Within a wonderfully sparse and stunning landscape, there lies 220,000 hectares of privately-owned land within the NamibRand Reserve, set within the red dune belts, gravel plains, mountains and ‘inselbergs’ (if you were to search the meaning of this name, it would come up with the following description – an inselberg or monadnock is an isolated hill, knob, ridge, or small mountain that rises abruptly from a gently sloping or virtually level surrounding plain.’) it is a world completely indescribable until you have actually been there to witness the vast plains that are truly out of this world.

The NamibRand Reserve is hugely popular within the landscape photographers. It is also heralded as one of the most famous International Dark Sky Reserves, with barely any light pollution to hinder spotting most if not many more stars than you could normally spot with the naked eye. The reserve itself is located 60 kilometres from the coast and because of this hot summer evenings are cooled by refreshing winds coming from the coast. Winter mornings on the other hand make for fabulous photography – it is quite a sight to witness layers of fog lying low over what is characteristically a desert.

Boulders Safari Camp constitutes of wonderful spacious luxury canvas tents and only five tents make up Boulders Safari Camp. Children are welcome from ages 6 and above when booking for small family groups. If you were to book the camp exclusively, children of any age are welcome.
