Bushman’s Kloof in the Cederberg Mountains is surrounded by 7,500 hectares of unspoilt wilderness and is a very unusual property. This luxury boutique property has made it’s name as wellness retreat with every modern luxury treatment you could possibly want and gourmet food, but it’s the surrounding area which enchanted us when we stayed there. Bushman’s Kloof is all about reconnecting to nature and truly feeling the raw beauty of a remote wilderness, only a couple of hours from Cape Town.
Bushman’s Kloof is in an area of huge historical importance and boasts some of the best preserved rock art in the whole of Africa. As the bushmen passed through this area they told stories, left messages and left instructions on the plethora of caves and rocks. The rock art is both mystical and very moving and with the Bushman Kloof’s expert guides there to explain it to you it is a fascinating element of this luxury property.
The spa and wellness area falls in line with the areas ancient connections and revolves around traditional African treatments and African ingredients. The Riverside Gazebo can be pre booked – so you can enjoy treatments overlooking the Boontjies River and the wilderness beyond.
Bushman’s Kloof is the perfect place to unwind and really truly relax, something which can be hard for many of our clients as they transport themselves within 24 hours from a very busy life to one so remote and raw as the Western Cape. With the vast untouched area and the treatments and serenity of the lodge your body is able to unwind far quicker than elsewhere.
