About Us

We have been conscientiously travelling to each and every country we offer to assess the situation on the ground and new covid travel regulations – we are the only tour operator to have done this. Please see our blog post which has all the videos we have made, recording new protocols and luxury travel as it stands right now.

The Luxury Safari Company Ltd was founded in 2010 by Rose Hipwood, who has lived in and out of Africa for many years, so developing a deep knowledge of each and every remote corner of this impressive continent. Rose passionately believes that bespoke holidays are made special by the people involved, the unique locations of the lodges, and the intimate and personal nature of each trip.

It is with this ethos that Rose and her dedicated team plan seamless holidays for discerning clients wanting something out of this world. Rose’s deep love and passion for Africa is portrayed in her manner, and a conversation with Rose is nothing less than entertaining and exciting, her enthusiasm is totally and utterly infectious.

Rose has just launched The Luxury Safari Co’s very own Podcast – Talking Bush, Safaris & Luxury Travel – series 3 was recorded solely in Kenya’s Masai Mara and series 4 has some seriously exciting big safari names (series 1 and 2 weren’t half bad either).

About Us

Sophie Milligan joined us in 2016 and is a huge asset to the team not least because of her extremely sunny disposition. Soph has travelled the world painting wildlife (she is a fantastic artist) and people, but it was her love for Africa which lead her to work here at The Luxury Safari Co.

She has since risen to Associate Director. Her travels include extensive safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa, to name but a few. She has an expert knowledge of all of our luxury safari camps and lodges across East and Southern Africa through her own first hand experience.

About Us

Ryan Wilmot has spent the past 17 years as a professional guide and camp manager in some of Southern Africa’s top lodges, National parks, and private reserves. He holds an honors degree in Nature Conservation which is the foundation for his deep understanding of the natural environment. He is a fully qualified guide in South Africa and Zambia, and favors unique experiences, like game viewing on foot or canoeing some of the wildest waters out there.

He has a passion for people and their re-connection to the environment. He sees every safari as an opportunity to learn, about nature of course, but also human and wildlife behaviour. He has hung up his full time guiding boots to allow for family commitments but is dedicated to tailoring the most amazing and memorable safaris for his clients and preparing them for adventures of a lifetime.
His priority is exceeding your safari expectations.

About Us

David Webb is a wizz at design and can knock up a new logo or brochure in the same amount of time it’s taken us to make a cup of tea. We’re very lucky to have him.

DW as we know him, can be found working his socks off for various luxury brands, while renovating his house and looking after his newborn daughter Minty alongside his wife Pandora.

Caroline Van Pragh has been with us from the beginning (2010) and again we’re exceptionally lucky to have this PR guru on our side – of course there’s tonnes to shout about and Caroline always ensures we are in the World’s leading publications. We love working on extraordinary safari trips for journalists and have even had Caroline out on safari too!

About Us

Deborah Arantes came into our lives relatively recently and we’re not sure how we survived without her. She joined Caroline before the pandemic and promptly (and sensibly) deserted the UK for South Africa and the Maldives when lockdown hit – she even went on a little safari that we arranged. She works with Caroline on our PR.

Hamish & Harry bring very little to the office apart from a strong nose for someone else’s lunch, and the ability to be able to steal it without anyone noticing. They also have honed their ‘distraction’ skills which can mean when our lovely lodge and safari camp owners visit us extra time has to be factored in for playing with these two time wasters.

With years of experience in tailor made tourism, and further years spent on the ground in Africa, we really do have all the knowledge and expertise to be able to arrange absolutely anything you like – we believe a safari is not complete by simply taking game drives, but clients must have the option to walk, fly camp, take boat safaris and much more – we know everyone on the ground and are able to organise for you to meet the right people at the right time and have a totally unique experience so you are no longer a tourist, but an adventurer. We have a team based in offices in Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and South Africa, and Rose manages the office in England, meaning that we are always on top of things – we have stayed at every safari lodge on our books, and are constantly re visiting lodges, and keeping up to date with all new developments in Africa.

Our knowledge of Africa is unrivalled – combine this with a passion and commitment to tailor made travel solutions, and here we are.
