Kwandwe Private Game Reserve lies approximately 65 km from the coast and 45 km inland from Grahamstown, a pristine safari destination in 22,000 hectares of private wilderness – making it the largest private Big Five game viewing area in South Africa. Launching on 1 July 2017, Kwandwe Private Game Reserve boasts a new addition to their lodge portfolio, Fort House. An exclusive use safari home with ample space for 2 families travelling together. Ideally located on a knoll overlooking one of the main waterholes allowing guests to enjoy splendid views of the wildlife from the comfort of their private patios, the swimming pool and the boma.  This chic and contemporary safari villa, ideal for family holidays or parties of friends of up to 8.  Guests have access to a private vehicle, ranger and tracker to enjoy the days as you wish on the private 22,000-hectare reserve.  Currently priced at a 2017 introductory rate and offering an additional 20% off introductory offer for stays of 5 nights or more.

Perfectly set up for a duo of families travelling together with 2 King bedrooms and 2 Twins, all en-suite, with numerous private and shared spaces to connect and unwind.  This luxurious lodge private wine cellar, spa treatment room, guest pantry, and expansive lawns with a boma for outdoor dining, as well as its private vehicle, ranger and tracker, chef and lodge team.  Fort House also offers Voluntourism activities through the reserve’s Ubunye Foundation which runs a number of programmes across education, health and community leadership.  These exciting and unique activities are tailored according to individual and family interests and skill sets.  In a ground-breaking move, Kwandwe initiated its own social development arm in 2002, unique to the reserve and the surrounding rural communities. The Ubunye Foundation, is the soul of Kwandwe. Energy and resources are focused on those living in poverty-stricken rural areas where access to basic goods and services, in particular, education and healthcare, is severely limited.  Guests are given the unique opportunity to meet, integrate and make a difference within these communities.

Guests of Fort House have access to a range of activities including: Rhino Tracking, spend 3 – 4 hours tracking rhino with a specialist ranger and tracker team or participate in Kwandwe’s exciting rhino-darting and notching programme.  Those guests with interests in Photography, birding, walking and fishing have specialists in-house, the guiding team has the capacity to cater to a variety of specialised interests.  For those wanting an adrenaline fuelled activity, Big game walking safaris can be arranged with an armed ranger who will guide guests through breathtaking ‘up close and personal’ sightings.
