In August this year, Simon and Rosy Kenyon, Jakob Von Plessen and Daisy Soames took the reins of Offbeat Riding Safaris, buying the company from the Voorspuy family who founded it in 1989.
It is a very exciting step in the future of the company; all four new owners were mentored by Tristan and Cindy for many years, and all four feel very deeply about continuing the legacy of offering exceptional riding safaris across Kenya’s most beautiful, and wildlife rich, wildernesses. We would like to thank you all for your continued support in Offbeat Riding Safaris.
We continue to offer mobile horseback safaris in the Masai Mara and Laikipia. The traditional mobile tented camp moves every other day, as the riders continue on horseback, crossing diverse landscapes and interacting with abundant wildlife along the way. Our safaris provide some of the best game-viewing in the world, with regular encounters with elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and lion, and all from the back of a horse.

Riding High For Rangers
Teaming up with Riding High, Offbeat guides will take you on a breathtaking ride up Mt. Kenya, into the otherworldly paradise of Africa’s second highest peak. Proceeds from this safari will be going For Rangers, a charity that supports Africa’s rangers who put their lives on the line so that our wildlife can continue to exist.
To join any of these amazing Offbeat rides including on the dates displayed below please contact us – we absolutely adore the Offbeat Riding Safaris. Don’t forget that you can also stay at Sosian in Laikipia, and ride out from the lodge itself – we find this a fantastic option if you have non riding partners or family members as there is so much to do there apart from riding, there really is something for everyone.
You could also team this with Offbeat Ndoto or Offbeat Mara Camp which do not offer riding, but do offer access to a remote and uncrowded are of the Masai Mara with incredible wildlife viewing all year round.
