If it is wilderness you are after there are few lodges in Kenya, or indeed the whole of Africa, that can rival Tassia. Once voted by TIME magazine as one of the best 24 best kept secrets in the world. This community owned and run lodge sits perched majestically on the edge of the Mokogodo Forest escarpment offering spectacular views of the Northern Frontier District towards Samburu.
This eco-lodge was built with support from it’s neighbours Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Borana Ranch and is owned by the local Mokogodo Maasai, who have been protecting the forest areas for centuries against encroachment and timber harvest. This private conservancy means that guests at Tassia Lodge will enjoy an exclusive safari vacation in beautiful Kenya without interuption by other tourists or safari vehicles. Tassia is the ultimate in escapism, free from the modern world constraints of mobile phones, wi-fi and television, you quickly remove yourself from the world as you know it absorbing the complete wilderness of your surroundings.
Tassia is made up of just 6 spacious rooms, each one designed around the naturally present rocks and plant life. All rooms are en suite with their own shower and loo with extraordinary views out to the surrounding bush. It isn’t every day you can watch elephants while enjoying a refreshing shower! The rooms can also be adapted for families, couples and single travelers.
Between them, hosts Martin & Anikia have ensured guests have their every need catered for, from romantic meals under the stars, to manicures and pedicures for those bushwhacked hands and feet! Activities are many and varied and include walking safaris, horse riding, cave visits and the opportunity to visit a local Mokagodo village, a once in a lifetime experience where guests are invited into the daily lives and homes of a community.
In our opinion the exquisite wilderness and intimacy of Tassia Lodge is best experienced after the game rich plains of the Masai Mara and before the turquoise waters and white sands of the Indian Ocean, contact us to hear how we can personalise an itinerary to suit you. Tassia are currently offering guests a ‘stay 4 nights pay for 3’ tariff, contact us to hear more.
