The wonderful Governors’ Camp collection has news news and more news! It has been ten years since Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge opened its doors to the public and they have recently celebrated everything they have enjoyed, experienced and learnt throughout this ever-changing decade. Producing a wonderful movie, called ‘10 years of Community Support and Conservation by Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge’ which shows the wonderful story of this unique revenue sharing model of a lodge, within a world darkened by bad news. It provides one with a sense of hope and is very much worth a watch. Further to this, and funded by the revenue made by Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, there has been a success in all corners: a poultry project, four new houses constructed for widows of the genocide, a new school equipped with six classrooms and two brand new water pipelines that is now bringing water to up to 16,000 people in the Kinigi and Nyange communities within Rwanda.

‘Sabinyo Silverback Lodge demonstrates the perfect intersection between conservation, community and commerce’

The month of October has provided fruitful wildlife scenes within the Masai Mara. At Little Governers‘, Governor’ and Il Moran there has been wildlife sightings galore! With the rains departing during the end of September, the grasslands have now turned a rustic golden shade. The Loita wildebeest herds of the migration have crossed back into the Mara Reserves with quite a substantial number moving back into the north east of the reserve. There have been lots of Topi births which, of course has attracted the attention of many a predator.
