We have some exciting news coming from Botswana’s Linyanti. The already wonderful Duma Tau has recently undergone a complete facelift. We would also like to introduce Little Duma Tau as well. Both of these camps have been refurbished or newly built as premier camps, Duma Tau along with Little Duma Tau will offer new ways to explore the ancient pathways of the Linyanti.
The entirely new Duma Tau and Little Duma Tau camps draw on decades of safari heritage to present a very exciting and very new luxury destination in the heart of one of Botswana’s most prolific game-viewing areas. From this summer, August 2020, we are excited to witness the doors opening of these two camps and being able to share the stunning wonders of the magical Linyanti with the help of Duma Tau and Little Duma Tau as superb properties to stay that reflect the beauty of this area.
The new camps are scheduled to re-open on the 1st of August 2020, in the heart of the peak winter season. Naturalist Martin Benadie, however, is even more excited to return to in the summer safari season, when the Linyanti region is filled with life.
As you look at the surrounding Linyanti Wilderness Reserve with fresh eyes, you begin to appreciate more than ever just what this magical region means to some of Botswana’s most iconic species – as well as to the wonderful guests that come and stay! The purpose Wilderness Safaris embodies throughout its whole ethos and especially whilst building Duma Tau and Little Duma Tau, seeks to preserve the Linyanti as a pristine wilderness helping to maintain a vital transfrontier corridor for migratory elephant, and to learn more about how and why these majestic and wise animals choose the routes they do. At the same time, we are beginning to see how it serves as a dispersal hub for the endangered wild dog – one of Botswana’s rarest predators.
This continued presence Wilderness Safari’s has within Botswana and in the Linyanti in particular will help map the ways in which they develop news ways to enable conservation is as efficient as it can be and developing new ideas of future generations to manage and continue successfully. Without their presence or the presence of supportive guests, much of these steps are unlikely to continue.
The area of Linyanti is located just north of the Savuti corner of the larger Chobe National Park. The Linyanti is famous primarily for its stunning beauty, often heralded as one of the most beautiful areas of the Chobe National Park. The game viewing in this area is also incredible. The name Linyanti comes from the Linyanti River in the north western corner of Chobe. This area is around 900 square kilometres of wilderness packed full of heards of elephant, prides of lion, sable, roan, hippos, rare wild dog where all these animals become more prolific during the winter months.
