If you’re looking for inspiration for the perfect South African trip, then your trip isn’t worth considering if you are not thinking of heading into the Winelands. Only 45 minutes’ drive outside of the hustle and bustle of Cape Town are Franshoek and Stellenbosch, or otherwise known as the famous and stunning winelands.
A rolling landscape of neatly trimmed vines unfold before you, within the shadows of towering nearby rocky outcrops. The beautiful vineyards are dotted with traditional Dutch style houses and farm buildings that have been refurbished into stunning boutique hotels and private villas. The dramatic landscape with its magnificent mountains and superb food and of course it’s delicious locally made wine, the winelands are most definitely a must when visiting South Africa. Not only is it known for its superb wine but is also the capital of everything culinary expertise within South Africa’s boasting gorgeous restaurants from award winning luxuries to simple and stylish. Stellenbosch and Franshoek are the regions gourmet hot spots and perfect for wine lovers, foodies and luxury travellers alike.
La Cle Des Montagnes have just announced some exciting news – introducing La Cle Village and Lodge. The previously private-only villas are now available per room with the launch of La Cle Village. Colonial, Manoir and Grange join La Cle Lodge with room-based availability as of the beginning of August 2018 – so in a couple of weeks’ time! If you wish to go take the villas privately, this does still apply when booking Grange or Colonial entirely.
The details of each of the rooms within La Cle Village are as follows: the Manoir consists of one central reception room, dining and living room, one garden suite and one ‘petite’ room. The Grange has two garden rooms and one courtyard room. The Colonial has one garden room and three courtyard rooms, and the Galerie is a completely private two-bedroom villa.
La Cle Lodge is located adjacent to the reception on the second farm and consists of two garden rooms, one courtyard room and two ‘petite’ rooms. Chef’s table dinners are available Monday’s, Wednesdays and Fridays and is available to ALL guests at La Cle des Montagnes. There is also a tennis court, swimming dams, chip and putt and a helipad all guests have access to.
Of course, the Winelands received its namesake for the fantastic wines produced within the perfect climate and soil atmosphere that the area keeps, there are many other fantastic opportunities you are able to immerse yourself in such as sampling the craft beers made, brandy and even olives and olive oil. Activities include tours of the beautiful vineyards, swimming with seals in Plettenberg bay, Dyer Island cruises to witness the humpback whales and even canopy swinging and tour of the Elgin. Or, simply just relax at La Cle des Montagnes.
