I think it is fair to say that we are all in need of some inspiration. We all need something to look forward to, something to plan towards, something to get excited about. Well you are reading the right blog, we have some properties to get you buzzing with excitement.
Great Plains are one of the most exciting companies with the most superb properties within Botswana, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Some of which have recently undergone a fabulous refurb: Mara Nyika Camp, located in Kenya’s Masai Mara has been closed for the last few months and will be re-opening its doors on the 22ndJune 2020. The rooms are looking simply stunning – there are 3 x standard guest tents each comprising a small lounge area, bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower. There are also 2 x two-bedroom family tents – each family tent comprises a small central lounge area, two bedrooms on either side of the lounge, both similar sizes, one bathroom with bath and one bathroom with just a shower. These units are also ideal for those couples travelling together that would appreciate additional space in their tents where the second bedroom can be converted to a larger lounge or in room spa area. The services of a private wildlife viewing vehicle and guide are included in the nightly rate for each of these family tents.
Mara Nyika’s main area and guest tents are all on raised decks and interlinked walkaways, each overlooking a small stream and wildlife filled plains located in the Naibosho Conservancy, bordering the Masai Mara. Unfortunately, the previously announced Mara Nyika Jahazi Suite will no longer be opening.
Second on the list is Great Plains’ Mara Expedition Camp. The wonderful, small, intimate and incredibly boutique tented camp will be closing its doors a little earlier than anticipated this year (15th November) as they will be undertaking a refurbishment to some of the guests tents as well as the main camp area. This little but beautiful camp will re-open its doors on the 15th May 2021.
Last but not least within the camp section of this blog to tantalise your taste buds, and one most definitely one for families, Zimbabwe’s Sapi Explorer’s will be reopening its doors very soon. It now has a brand spanking new two-bedroomed Sapi Family Room in addition to the four explorer-style tents, all located along the beautiful shores of the Zambezi River within the 120,000-hectare private Sapi Concession.
Sapi Explorers Camp is a perfect base from which to explore the Sapi Reserve, Mana Pools and Zambezi River whilst on foot, wildlife viewing from a luxury 4×4 vehicle, boat or canoe.
Finally, to end this post on another positive, Great Plains are excited to announce that they have been awarded an Air Operator License in Zimbabwe. This allows guests to enjoy their own scheduled seat-in-plane transfer services from Victoria Falls and Harare to our Sapi Reserve, Mana Pools, Kariba, Bumi Hills and Hwange… to name but a few!
Privat charter options are also available for guests that would prefer taking advantage of this flying experience to combine destinations such as Singita Pumashana, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and even Kenya along with the destinations listed above into one fluid and really special experience.
