Here’s a little update from one of our top camps on the Northern Tanzania Circuit, Chem Chem. Chem Chem Lodge is an extremely professional operation with the best guides, gourmet food and five-star service, but it still manages to keep that homely and welcoming feel with guest feeling relaxed throughout their stay. Its location is on its own vast private nature reserve meaning everything from walking, night drives, bush meals and authentic cultural experiences are available here. We have had news the Little Chem Chem has won Hotel of the Year in Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report. Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report has announced it Editors’ Choice Awards for 2022, with Little Chem Chem selected amongst some of the most captivating luxury hotels in the world. What makes this award so special? The editors cover the cost themselves and travel incognito, resulting in reviews that are authentic, unbiased and true to the everyday character and experience of each property. Little Chem Chem is one of Tanzania’s most special properties – on this private wildlife reserve you have more freedom for walks, night drives and bush meals as well as game drives. Little Chem Chem is in a game corridor between the Chem Chem Reserve and Lake Burunge and the game viewing here is seriously special. One of Tanzania’s top camps and before this nomination in Andrew Harper’s, is still relatively unknown, making it that extra bit of special.

One other bit of good news from Chem Chem, if there wasn’t enough already! Is Chem Chem Airstrip, previously only available for private charters, is now available for scheduled flights. Coastal Aviation has added Chem Chem to their routing which means simpler and more direct travel for guests. Chem Chem’s airstrip is just 10 minutes road transfer away from Chem Chem Lodge and 40-minute road transfer from Little Chem Chem and Forest Chem Chem.

Currently life at Chem Chem is as alive and as bright as the lush landscapes that surround it. The teams on the ground have been sharing some incredible moments with guests. From children assisting our chefs during a bush breakfast, to some surreal wildlife encounters, and even one of Chem Chems’ resident leopards strolling through the entrance of Little Chem Chem. The vibrancy of the wilderness perfectly complements the slow safari lifestyle in camp.
