A honeymoon South Africa style is truly like no other, firstly you have so many honeymoon options here it’s unreal, from remote and wild game viewing, to endless leopard and rhino sightings (amongst other abundant game), to the beaches of Kwa Zulu Natal and the cosmopolitan options in Cape Town. There is just so much to see and so on a honeymoon in South Africa. Due to the rand gbp exchange rate you can also stay in some of Africa’s top lodges and camps for much less and have a real once in a lifetime holiday.

When planning your South Africa honeymoon it would be unusual not to consider heading to Cape Town and the Winelands, both of which are incredibly romantic with some of the best restaurants in the world on your doorstep. The vistas and beaches also lend themselves to long romantic walks and you couldn’t hope for a more serene honeymoon. The South Africans also really know how to spoil their honeymooners and between them and us we go all out to make sure this really will be the trip of a lifetime. One property we absolutely love in the Winelands is Le Quartier Francais with it’s quirky and unique style and intimate feel it lends itself perfectly to a South Africa honeymoon.

Le Quartier Francais boasts the famous restaurant The Tasting Room, hotel guests have preference there and you can dine there and know that you are experiencing the best of the Winelands. This restaurant is so famous that people travel from all over the world to eat there. Franschhoek also plays host to many festivals which are fabulous to get involved with if you happen to be there. The Literary Festival is the next one, held in May and is ideal for book lovers. Le Quartier Francais is also ideally located from which to explore the vineyards and vistas of South Africa’s winelands either by car or privately driven transfers.

A South Africa honeymoon often includes a safari which can either be done in the North of South Africa in the Sabi Sands area, or in the South in the Eastern Cape, as well as more remote locations like Kwa Zulu Natal, Madikwe and the Kalahari – all areas offer different but equally inspiring options with fantastic game viewing being had by all, we usually recommend combining a few of the areas to get a real feel for this amazing country. The guiding in South Africa is some of the best in the world and this really shows, the guides out there have a real passion and enthusiasm for the bush, which is hard to rival.

The above camps also have some further specials running this year making them even better value for money. If you stay for six nights you might only pay for four, which is a huge saving.

South African honeymoons also have some amazing honeymoon specials – they are currently all over the place as everyone tries to compete for business in this tough financial time. On top of the current honeymoon specials in South Africa the rand/gbp exchange rate is working in our favour (as mentioned earlier) to result in South Africa trips being far better value for money than anywhere else. Honeymoon specials are very prevalent all over Africa as everyone tries to make sure you are not bankrupted by this once in a lifetime trip. We also include our own honeymoon specials in the form of our own discounts passed onto you, we also always include small gestures and surprises throughout your honeymoon to make sure your South Africa holiday is truly once in a lifetime.

Some of the honeymoon specials we like to include whilst you’re in South Africa could be anything from a romantic rose petal bush bath, to a sleep out under the stars, a private candlelit dinner on the beach or a private tour of a luxury vineyard. In South Africa they do romantic incredibly well which is why it is such a popular honeymoon destination.

Thanda is one of the most romantic places in South Africa, and they also often run honeymoon specials. Thanda in South Africa is a fabulous mixture of contemporary luxury and old elegant safari – it offers a truly wild retreat away from the tourist track and is unimaginably romantic with rose scattered turn downs and bath tubs big enough for two, not to mention the private plunge pools. Thanda also has some fantastic game viewing on offer so guests can really enjoy a truly authentic safari experience in South Africa. Each villa has its own lounge and fireplace creating a cosy and welcoming ambience and we strongly recommend any of you lovers out there get to Thanda as soon as you can.

Walking safaris can also be incredibly romantic as you often trek through unexplored bush and feel like the first great explorers, often coming across small waterfalls and streams. Walking safaris have long been known as one of the best ways to see the bush, you get to see all the little things and it is those that truly make the bush ‘work’ together. Luxury lodges Jaci’s Lodges in Madikwe now offer specialized walking safaris with some of the best walking safari guides in South Africa. They also offer some of the most romantic settings for a honeymoon we have ever seen.

Botswana is another popular honeymoon destination. Booking a Botswana honeymoon is not the minefield that it might initially appear – we know every camp, every room, every romantic experience available and will make sure you have access to these. We take our commission from the lodges not from you so our expert efficient service is completely free. Our Botswana honeymoons include everything fro helicopter trips to deserted islands for a glass of champagne, candlelit dinners in the bush, and sleep outs under the stars with a herd of elephants below you. We always include little surprises and treats along the way so your honeymoon safari really is a once in a lifetime experience.

We’re always receiving updates from our colleagues on the ground about game movements and camp developments, as well as being out there on the ground regularly to see it all for ourselves. This means we can plan your honeymoon in Botswana with admirable accuracy as to the best game viewing and the best rooms at each camps. Lebala Camp is a heavenly camp in the Northern Okavango Delta, this remote and beautiful area is full of game and offers a fantastic start to any honeymoon. Two male lions obligingly showed guests how to stalk and miss a buffalo the other day. They then roared about their loss for a good while before managing to pull down a young buffalo calf.

A few days later the two male lions did pull down a larger buffalo only 500m from the camp. These two males have been in the area for a while now and are proving excellent photographic subjects. They have also been happily stealing food from hyenas – they can be the most awful scavengers. A female leopard cub has also been seen recently and both her and her mother are incredibly relaxed around the vehicles, which is lovely to see.
