Since the groundbreaking partnership between Wilderness Safaris and Governors Camp Collection in April this year we have waited to hear news from this exciting new alliance.

In addition to being one of East Africa’s oldest and most respected safari brands, the Governors’ safari camps are located in undoubtedly the best locations in two of Africa’s bucket list destinations, Kenya’s Masai Mara and Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Combined with the vast portfolio and strong ethos in conservation and Eco tourism pioneered by Wilderness paves the way for a very promising future!

To mark this new venture, and the re-opening of entirely re-built camp Wilderness Ruckomechi, Wilderness Safari’s together with Governors Camps have released to The Luxury Safari Company a whole host of extras and specials across the collective camps and lodges.

We have been sent some fabulous new images from the newly rebuilt Wilderness Ruckomechi Camp in Zimbabwe. Situated on a large private concession in the heart of the Zambezi Valley’s Mana Pools National Park, Ruckomechi Camp looks out from the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. It is a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views of the broad flowing river, adjoining well-defined tree canopy and the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment over the border in Zambia.  The camp has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, with spacious and elegant new guest tents book-ending the pool, lounge, main and dining areas which have been rebuilt on their same extraordinary spot overlooking the Lower Zambezi River.

Ballooning at Vumbura, Botswana

Offering a unique perspective, fabulous viewing and outstanding photographic opportunities, a balloon safari is the ultimate way to survey the enchanting scenery and amazing wildlife below, and is the latest addition to Vumbura Plains Camp long list of water, land and now, air based activities.  Ballooning at Vumbura offers guests the chance to truly appreciate the vast expanse of the Okavango Delta grasslands that surround Vumbura Plains and the elephant, giraffe, Impala, antelope and wildebeest (to name a few) that call the plains home.  Hippo and crocodile are also common in the waterways.

Accommodation at Vumbura is offered as 2 separate camps providing 14 rooms overall (2 can accommodate families) each camp if fully equipped with a raised, furnished lounge, dining and bar area allowing magnificent vistas across the Okavango Delta.  Each of the large raised rooms provide guests with indoor & outdoor showers and ensuite bathroom, open sided private lounge   With unobstructed views of the floodplain and private plunge pool.  Contact us for more information or to add Vumbura Plains Camp to your itinerary, exclusive nightly rates available now.

Sabyinyo, Rwanda

The Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge in our opinion the best lodge to see the gorillas from, located in the foot hills of the Virunga Volcanoes, Northwestern Rwanda.  Sabyinyo has undergone an expansion and now offers 6 cottages, 1 family suite and 2 suite cottages, all truly luxurious private cottages set in the grounds of a rainforest.  Delicious heart warming meals are taken in the dining room next to a warm fire with the sounds of the rainforest for company.  Sabyinyo remains the only truly luxury lodge from which you can see the wonderful mountain gorillas, where warm fires are lit for you every evening and local culture is at your finger tips.

Due to the shifting weather patterns and longer drier seasons, throughout April – May for Kenya and December through to early January for Lower Zambezi and Chongwe, many lodges and camps ‘low season rates’ are being extended to reflect this.  Alongside this many of the Wilderness camps rates have been reduced and their ‘Six Countries Special’ – 29 luxurious lodges featuring a diverse range of activities over sic countries to pick and mix from – is now available as a nightly rate.
