Samode Haveli

What we love: this oasis in the heart of Jaipur’s old City.  A must in Jaipur is a visit to the Bar Palladio.

This traditional Indian mansion was built about 175 years ago as a residence for the rulers of Samode and it is still occupied by their descendants. Situated within the old town’s pink ramparts  in tranquil gardens, the Samode Haveli comprises of several houses set around courtyards and is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the Pink City.  Each of the 39 rooms or suites are individually decorated with beautiful bathrooms with rolltop baths and are scattered within what would have been the men’s quarters (mardana) and the women’s quarters (zenana).  Balconies look out over the pools, fountain courtyards and the gardens. Some rooms have private courtyards. Eat delicious food – the Samode Haveli is renowned for its excellent royal Rajasthani food – in the old dining hall surrounded by colourful hand painted murals or maybe in the courtyard on warm evenings. The  daybeds around the pretty swimming pool are perfect for relaxing.  Let the hotel arrange an early morning guided walk around the markets in Jaipur – well worth the early start.
