Asilia Africa have some of the best camps in Kenya and Tanzania – they are now also branching out to Rwanda and Uganda, so they really are dominating East Africa. Their domination has mainly been lead as one of the top East African ground agents, with highly efficient and organised ground teams who ensure everything for our clients run smoothly. Their camps range from rustic and authentic, to the seriously adventurous and then back up to a few high end camps which sit just below the extravangant high end that has it’s own market altogether. Asilia are brilliant with giving back and every single Asilia luxury safari contributes hugely to the projects they run across Africa protecting communities and also of course wildlife conservation.
They’ve just emailed us with their 2026/2027 updates which we’re excited to share. As always there’s a lot going on which is reflective of their permanent upward movement within the industry.
As one of the first to release their 2026 rates it is interesting to note that there is a general 5% increase on most camps, as is the norm for most camps year on year, but that some camps which are more popular will receive a much higher rate increase of 10% plus – these include Naboisho, Rekero and Encounter Mara in the Masai Mara, and Sayari and Namiri in the Serengeti. It is no surprise that it is these camps which have increased in price as the Masai Mara and the Serengeti remain the two mainstays of East African safaris – although we do always try and get you somewhere more remote, wild and adventurous too.
As safari seasons start to widen, gone is the thinking that one can only take a safari in July and August – so have the peak season prices. A few camps have now increased their peak season pricing from the beginning of June until the end of October, whereas it used to be July to September.
Photographic vehicles owned by Asilia are hugely popular, they are modified to ensure you can get very low to the ground without a barrier between you and the wildlife – these will now be the same price as standard private vehicles but as only very few camps have these, make sure you book well in advance to secure them if wildlife photography is your passion. Your private guide will have a good knowledge of where to place you and how to ensure you get the best out of the modified photographic vehicle.
Southern Tanzania is so undervalued, our consultants absolutely love this safari area because there’s amazing wildlife viewing and very few other camps and lodges, so you get to experience Africa’s raw wilderness without being interrupted by other camps vehicles or tourists. We do try to keep you away from the other vehicles in the busier Northern Tanzania areas, always vying for our own wildlife sighting but its not always possible – in Southern Tanzania it is. At Asilia’s camps – Jabali Ridge, Roho ya Selous and Usangu you will have a guaranteed private vehicle so not only will you be at your own wildlife sighting you also will not be sharing the vehicle with any other guests.
Jabali, Olakira, Oliver’s, The Highlands and Sayari are all receiving soft refurbs – it’s amazing what a soft refurb can do to modernise a camp and bring it in line with other camps of the same calibre. On top of this Asilia’s commitment to guide training is constantly ongoing and means they have some of the best guides in East Africa – something which is crucial on a luxury safari.
