Climate: Hot all year, but monsoon during Apr, May and Nov
Typical Landscape: Tropical vegetation, excellent marine life
Mafia Island is a unique little Island just off mainland Tanzania, and is governed from the mainland, rather than from Zanzibar. There is a marine park here, and for divers Mafia is an absolute hotspot. The main town is Kilindoni, and Chole Bay is studded with islands, sandbanks and beaches. A true deserted island paradise on a larger scale than the private islands.
