Serian sits perched on the banks of the Mara river and is owned and run by Alex Walker, a professional guide and conservationist, and charismatic host. With only seven tents the camp is intimate and personal, all activities, meals and arrangements are personalised to suit you.

The main area is cosy and comfortable, with a roaring fire and inviting drinks cupboard. Some shady decking nearby offers the perfect place to have lunch, or relax and read during the day.

Your luxury tent is spacious, with a large veranda overlooking the river, perfect for lazy days in the bush. The bush bathroom with a bathtub, is a few steps outside of your tent, each one has an impressive loo with a view.

The Serian Trust is also based here, a not for profit organization which aims to give conservation, education, and humanitarian assistance to local communities. As well as this you also have Living with Lions, the Mara Predator Project headquarters based at Serian. Until recently scientists believed that there were 100-200,000 lions living in Africa, but recent surveys have found that the number has dropped dramatically to 23,000, most of these in protected National Parks. This conservation group aims to save remaining wild lions and other predators outside the National Parks.
